Saving Aimee

SAVING AIMEE DECIDED to give me the juicy details on their band and how they are doing.

After playing with McFly and Kill Hannah the band seem to be on their way up.

They played at Manchester Academy with Go: Audio in April and blew Go: Audio's performance off the stage.

The band now finished up this tour, await their headline tour of the UK.

Saving Aimee's Tim Boardman took some time out to answer some questions.

How did Saving Aimee get together?
We all went to school in the same town, so just knew each other from other bands and got together to take over the world.

You have a new single coming out (we're the good guys) will there be an album out soon?
Yes! We've finished the whole thing, produced by Justin Hawkins. We're looking to release later this year.

For someone who hasn't heard you, how would you describe your sound?
Either Synth-Driven Guitar Pop, or Guitar-Driven Synth Pop. Take your pick!

What have been the highlights of being in Saving Aimee?
Touring, and making the record. We're big fans of going out and having a good time, so touring is great!

Have there ever been any bad times?
James once managed to knock one of the guys we were playing with out, whilst playing with a ball. There have been shoes thrown at us. Once we drove all the way to Aberdeen, just to have the show be cancelled!

Do you write your own songs? If so where does the inspiration come from?
Generally, we'll all stand in a room and someone will have an idea that sets a song off. Often, the original idea will get lost somewhere, but it just starts everything off.

You state your genre as Pop, would you say your music is cheesy?
I don't think cheesy is the right word, but there are definitely those kind of elements in there. Some of the synth lines and solos hark back to some cheesier eras, but I think there's enough sensible stuff to hold it back!

Do you ever get up to anything silly on tour?
Of course not, we are perfectly behaved young men!

When you are not playing for Saving Aimee you're a back line tech, how do you juggle the two?
I get really bored of doing nothing, so sometimes go out with some other bands when Saving Aimee have time off, so there isn't much juggling to be done - it's all in SA's downtime, really.

You have worked with a lot of people as a back line tech, how did you manage to do this?
A good face and a little bit of charm.
